The Barrier

An ancient divine seal placed around Eska to prevent outside interference — raised by pact after the war. The pact broke under the weight of war, dragons, and the gods' own choices.

Greenseer Rylenn at the Starspire Observatory theorises that what the world calls "stars" may in fact be tears in the Barrier — visible wounds in the boundary around the world. He further believes Lyra may carry a fragment of such a tear within her scar.
